This is a quote from a magazine I love at the moment – not a travel mag but one that encourages dreams (The Renegade Collective)!
Sometimes I have to pinch myself when I stop and think about Places We Go. It was once a dream that I used to scribble on any piece of paper I could get my hands on… over and over again! Today it not only airs on Network Ten across Australia, but in fact across the world.
On the eve of launching our sixth series, our little dream is well and truly alive. It has a force of its own and a community of its own – all of you! And this past year it’s been wonderful getting to know many of you on the road and sharing new ideas.
From making new friends in Antarctica just over a year ago, to sharing your Australian travel stories on our blog and even giving you the reins to our show! You said (on social media) that you wanted someone to win a spot hosting the show. So, as you read this, Glenn, the winner of our “I Want Your Job” competition is getting ready to head away to film his very own episode in Chile!
Series 6 has all the hallmarks of a great Places We Go series and as always it’s been the people we’ve met on the road that bring it alive. (We don’t have to do much really – just turn up and the locals do all the talking!)
We’re kicking off the first four episodes with a special run on New Zealand cycling and tramping trails (I’m so excited to show you the Central Otago Rail Trail and the Milford Track). Of course, every week are our treasured Aussie driving adventures, starting with some NSW travel on the south coast in Narooma & Tilba, followed by a story on the Snowies before we head to South Australia!
Everyone is always asking me how we put Places We Go together. So I’ve put together a few pics below so you can meet the team, both in front of the camera and behind. First and foremost, they’re all travellers – and some of the most wonderful and interesting people you could wish to meet. Big thanks to all for keeping the dream alive!
It’s so wonderful hearing from you, keep sharing your latest adventures, or where in fact you would like us to go – we’re already locking in our destinations for our seventh series and all ideas are welcome!
So, here’s to Series 6! We hope you all enjoy watching it, as much as we have enjoyed making it.
