Travel Resources

We are not only here to entertain and inspire you, we are here to inform you.

Over the years we have personally and professionally travelled the world. And for any of us (including you) to do that, you have to rely on people and products. To book, pack, get there, get around, get home, stay safe, stay healthy, capture memories, and more.

So we thought we would share with you who has proven to us, to be the best of the best. Travel resources that help us travel better, both personally and professionally.

So here is our list. The travel resources we love, the ones we recommend and why. Everyone is different, and we all travel differently, so our list is vast and varied. We hope you find something useful in it.

BIG4_RGB

We have worked with BIG4 Holiday Parks for three years now. In that three years, we have seen the trusty ‘caravan park’ grow and change face, all within the innovative spirit of BIG4. Trust us, the caravan park ain’t what she used to be.

With more than 180 Holiday Parks around Australia, BIG4 are pioneering great Australian holiday experiences. With EVERYTHING that mum, dad, kids, grandparents, couples and even the family dog are looking for in this modern age. Luxurious cabins, safari tents, pizza ovens, coffee carts, jumping pillows, water parks and resort pools. You name it, we have seen it.

The beauty is that is still caters to everyones budget. From camping and caravan sites to basic and deluxe cabins, everyone can holiday with complete freedom and fun. And what we love most about them, is the community. Everyone joins together, lifelong friendships are formed and experiences shared. It’s the Great Australian Holiday.

Antler_logo_Aus_Centralised_Hi_CoralWho do we trust to lug out kit around? For more than three years, Antler. We carry a lot of gear sometimes and we need reliable, durable and lightweight luggage that we know is going to do the job. The last thing anyone needs on a holiday is a luggage disaster. So we avoid them by travelling with Antler.

Some of the best things we like and trust about Antler? They have some of the lightest luggage going around (they are actually known as the champions of lightweight luggage). Those extra kilograms add up, and no one wants to pay for excess luggage! Plus the fact that you can get four wheels, hard or soft cases and a gorgeous range of colours to suit everyone. Win / Win.

Anaconda-[WEB]-RGB-Logo

We must admit, Anaconda is a bit like a lolly shop for us! It’s that one-stop-shop that makes heading away on any adventure easy, no matter how big or small.

While it’s known as Australia’s largest camping superstore, it’s really so much more - with everything you could possibly need on any style of trip. Whether it be a camping or caravanning holiday, or a trip around the world, it caters for the lot.

In fact, we remember stocking up for our 4-and-a-half month caravanning trip around Australia over five years ago, and everything we needed was taken care of in the one visit. And then on the other hand, we’ve recently had a great shop for clothing and a backpack to head to Portugal to trek the Camino, and the range of product was fantastic.

The thing we love the most, is when you talk to the staff, they are all living the adventurous life – and their stories are endless.

Patagonia-footer From the icy chills of Antarctica to the deserts of Chile, the Rockies in Canada and the outback in Australia... We have been wearing and trusting Patagonia for many years now. Their range of technical clothing has meant we have been prepared for so many different environments, able to do our job, and experience all the location has to offer in comfort. And it's not all about performance, we think this gear looks pretty good too.

Canon logoAll of our team choose Canon DSLR cameras. Our main stills camera for Places We Go is a Canon 7D - it has been on almost as many Places We Go trips as we have and has stood the test of time. We use three main lenses - a versatile EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens which is great for all occasions, a EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Lens which we love for wide angles, and a Canon EF 24-70mm 1:2.8 for incredible image quality.

Travel Insurance is the one and only thing we insist you can't forget. We have had to use it so many times, it is simply not worth the risk overlooking it. The most flexible, easy to buy and easy to use travel insurance we have found is from World Nomads. You can buy, extend and claim online, even after you've left home. Travel insurance from WorldNomads.com is available to people from over 140 countries. It’s designed for adventurous travellers with cover for overseas medical, evacuation, baggage and a range of adventure sports and activities.

Instagram post 2167120426885704568_460970782 Published this book 5 years ago today, have since published a revised version.... but the first “anything” always feels the best doesn’t it? .
.

our initial 4 month filming trip around Australia kicked off 10 solid years of exploring, filming and helping the incredible people who dedicate their lives to bringing us all those amazing travel experiences that we excitedly share around dinner tables for years to come. .
.
It was one of the most incredible experiences of our lives that culminated in a 13 part tv series that year .
.
I want to personally thank my partner in life @clintbizzell our amazing cameraman Gary who was on this shoot @fidelia_films @kristimcdonough who was always up late in the caravan helping bring it to life, our mums Eileen and Carol, our friend (and driver Denise )... our brilliant editor Kevin and our talented producer Emma @babyinabackpack who not only worked on helping plan the shoot, but helped us bring this book to life.... and finally, our beautiful daughter Charli Grace who turned 2 under the rainbow serpent in Arnhem Land. .
Here’s to us all thanking those who have helped our journeys - we hope for those of you who have picked up our book sometime over the years that you’ve been inspired to explore somewhere perhaps you hadn’t thought of... or revisit an old favourite you have always loved .

Instagram post 2165281587715979998_460970782 Don’t you just love shining the light on the wonderful stuff in the world? .

For anyone that believes in the good in the world, or has been to Africa on your travels - I wanted to share and celebrate the initiative our old friend Megan Castran @jewelchic
is doing with @house.online.
.
She has come up with this FUN homewares range where she is donating ALL proceeds to DR Tererai Trent to help educate girls in Zimbabwe. (Tererai was Oprah’s all time favourite guest in her 25 years in TV because of her passion and determination to break the cycle of poverty and lack of education that had been passed down through the generations in her family and culture. .

I just bought some very cool rainbow water bottles for Xmas presents ... knowing they are good for the environment and good for the girls on the other side of the world. .
Thinking of you all right now as we raise a glass to you all tonight... and here’s to all doing what we can do to support each other.... wherever we may be.. near or far

Instagram post 2145634830623403482_460970782 As we reflect on the adventures we have had and shared this year, we can't help but think about our time in Tasmania's Western Wilds... We thought we had uncovered most of Tassie's secrets on all of our previous trips around the state, but boy were we wrong - the west coast of Tassie just has so many gems, so much history, and so many EPIC and wild landscapes that we simply have to return to see more.
.
If YOU are looking for an experience through some of the most untouched, uncrowded and unspoiled regions in the country, check out our full guide to the Western Wilds. We have put all of our blogs and videos (including the TV episode) into one dedicated place on our site so you can find all the inspiration you need! LINK IN BIO 🔗
