Australian Bucket List: Batemans Bay, NSW

Places We Go Team | April 7, 2018 | 2:00 pm | Comment

Batemans Bay is known for its spectacular beaches, the picturesque Clyde River, and of course, its oysters. We explored by kayak with a slight twist – picking up a takeaway coffee enroute without even getting out of the water! (P.S even the local sting rays drop by this place!).

We jumped on board the MV Merinda for a cruise up the Clyde River to historic Nelligen, enjoying the mouth-watering fish and chips from the Innes Boat Shed on the way.

We stayed at the BIG4 Batemans Bay Beach Resort – right on the water and teeming with things to do from the jumping pillow, to the pool, tennis courts and the top-shelf communal barbecues.

And finally, The Oyster Shed on Wray Street was the place to go for oysters, having been in the same family for four generations. With an oyster farm gate on the Clyde and a deck looking over the water, the only challenge was taking on the biggest oyster we had ever seen!
