Australian Bucket List Spotlight – BIG4 Wallaga Lake Holiday Park

Places We Go Team | April 17, 2019 | 5:50 pm | 81 Comments

We talk a lot about our Bucket List destinations around Australia. Places that we have handpicked as worthy of a spot on your travel list. Places we know you will love for many reasons.

And sometimes, our Bucket List nominations are not just a destination – they are an experience.

At BIG4 Wallaga Lake Holiday Park on the New South Wales South Coast, we had an experience.

This was not just a place to stay. It was a destination in itself. Sure, it was surrounded by amazing-ness. Bermagui. World-class game fishing, Wineries, Camel Rock Beach, the Blue Pool, and the endless sandy beaches of the Sapphire Coast.

But, it’s location on the immense inland Wallaga Lake, its proximity to the above locations, its amazing hospitality and magnet-like attraction for like-minded travellers, PLUS the fact that it could be the only Holiday Park on the planet with it’s very own on-site brewery, has put BIG4 Wallaga Lake on the list for us.

Steve Watson, owner of the Holiday Park and pioneer of the Camel Rock Brewery (and restaurant) which shares the land, has created an experience based on what he looks for when he goes on holiday. Facilities for the whole family, activities galore – most of which make the absolute most of the incredible lake on the parks doorstep – and of course, the brewery. A place to meet, relax, enjoy the company of both locals and Holiday Park guests, get a great meal (and save cooking one yourself), listen to some live music, and of course, enjoy the local brew.

And it’s Steve’s passion and genuine interest in offering an ‘experience’ to each of his guests that seems to be the winning formula. The result is a true blue, Aussie accommodation experience that offers the best of the location to everyone who stays here.

Don’t just take our word for it though, the video speaks for itself.

Is this Heaven or what. What a great designation for one of the best bucket list locations in NSW. I can’t wait to read the Australia’s Ultimate Bucket List book, to see what other locations we should go to in this Great Australian nation.

We love to go to the big Wally we kayak and we fish
But now there is another thing a beer and tasty dish
It’s got it all for camping just resting or for play
And your welcome for a fortnight or even a day.
So if you are really in need and want that special break
Just head to the big Wally and the beer house for a steak

I love the fact Wallaga Lake Holiday Park caters for everyone. And, my dad is a huge collector of beer cans and brewery paraphernalia and would love to add this place to his bucket list. He travels far and wide to meet other beer enthusiasts so it is definitely a bucket list winner for him. My own family look for getaways within a few hours from our base in Canberra, each year so this will definitely be on my list next March. Thanks for sharing the video.

Would be a wonderful surprise for my son – they have their own van and love to travel and to stay where there is a brewery would be his dream come true! I would give him the book after reading thoroughly myself as I too love to travel this great country – Wallaga Lake brings back memories of my daughter trying to water ski there many years ago

Pretty much an an all inclusive holiday. You could just settle in for a few days and never have to go anywhere. Always love a destination where you can park the car and forget about till you leave. Essentially it’s a resort but with the layback family friendly feel of a quality holiday park. I will definitely be adding it to my list.

Ps. Don’t send me a bucket list book I already have it. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Sounds like a fabulous location. What a smart idea to have activities and experiences IN the park – no need for patrons to have a designated driver or taxi, kids have plenty of options to amuse themselves while the adults indulge in a beer tasting or coffee and locally sourced food. It sounds absolutely perfect for us motorcyclists who like to enjoy the ride to a destination and then have everything within walking distance so we can leave all our “clobber” in the cabin. At Big 4 Wallaga Lake, we would have it all on our doorstep.

Big4 Wallaga Lake Holiday Park is Bucket List Worthy Because-
    * It has the Blue Pool for the Teenager Kid’s so they are happy and not annoying 100% of the time.
    * It has the Winery and Camel Rock Beach for Me, so I can go for relaxing walks, explore rock pools and unwind with a drink or two before hooking back up with hubby and kids.
    * It also has Camel Rock Brewery and Fishing for the Old Man, so he can fish all day (and not annoy me because I’m looking at shells or rock pools= lol), and then he can have a beer or two to celebrate his big catch or to drown his sorrows because the big one (cough, cough) got away.
What more could you ask for in a Holiday Park !
