Who wants my job? We’re making the dream job a reality!

Jen Adams | November 21, 2013 | 12:36 pm | Comment

Photo for blogAfter a quick poll amongst the Places We Go family, we decided the comment we receive almost on a daily basis when we’re filming around the world is “I want your job!”

So we posed the question to our amazing travel community on Facebook to see whether this really does interest you! And with such an overwhelming response, we’re making one of your dreams a reality!

Where to send you? Well, if we’re going to give you a taste of the dream job, we surely had to send you to one of our dream destinations! So, thanks to our amazing friends at Chimu Adventures, Turismo Chile and LAN Airlines, you’re going to CHILE! And you’ll be bringing a friend along for the adventure too!

You’ll see some extraordinary natural wonders – from deserts to volcanoes and glaciers – to the rugged wilderness, a perfect backdrop for trekking and horseback riding adventures. You’ll learn about Chile’s native cultures, enjoy amazing local food and taste some of the world’s best wine.

Now I bet you’re thinking “Oh I would love to have a go at this, but really I don’t know the first thing about making TV!”

Well have no fear, you will have your own producer and, of course, cameraman. All you need to do is pack your adventurous spirit and enjoy your holiday. And of course not be camera shy!

We’ll be there with you as you take in the experiences and are warmly welcomed by the locals. We really think of our TV series as a wonderful (and professionally shot!) home video that we (and now you!) can share with friends!

What I love about my job!

While everyone in our team has their own experience, after 6 years of pretty much living out of a suitcase, I thought I would share mine.

IMG_1220Making Places We Go is an absolute privilege for me – and not only because I get to travel to the most incredible places on the planet. It’s the people I meet on the road that really bring the experience alive and give me lifelong memories. Whether it’s right here in our own backyard or in a far away place on the other side of the world.

With our tagline, REAL PEOPLE REAL TRAVEL, we’re looking for just that. We’re all simply travellers who happen to have a camera to film the wonderful places we go and people we meet along the way.

So I’m calling on all travellers to throw your hat in the ring for this! You just never know who is going to get the lucky shot!

And what’s it REALLY like on the road with Places We Go?

If you’re wondering what a typical day entails, let me just say to expect the unexpected! We’re usually up filming the sunrise, and still going after the sun has set…we call it magic hour. Those two special times of the day at dawn and dusk where the light is pure gold and everything has that special glow!

IMG_1580As for what happens between those hours can sometimes be anyone’s guess! If you watch our series you would know our experiences vary immensely! One day we may be cruising down the Mekong in Cambodia or watching the sunrise over a volcano, the next we may be swimming alongside whale sharks, or simply enjoying a stroll through an ancient town. And of course there are our wonderful driving adventures every week that take us to the most beautiful places right across Australia. This week we’re currently filming in South Australia!

So, if you’ve ever wondered what it’s really like to be on the road filming an international TV travel series, please put your hand up! Come away with us as our very special guest and take the reins as the host.

I promise, it’s an adventure you’ll never forget.
